Out with the Old, in with the Bold: say “Hi” 👋 to Daan.dev 2.0!

Sunday, I quietly launched something that’s been in the works for more than a year now: a brand new version of my website! Well, quietly… I did yell a little bit internally. Because this isn’t just a fresh coat of paint—it’s a full-blown rebuild. So let’s call it what it is: Daan.dev 2.0.

Here’s what’s new (and why I’m excited about it):

Daan.dev 2.0 – Out with the Old, in with the Bold

This new site was a bold move. No small steps, just one huge overhaul.

This isn’t the first time I’m restyling my website and brand, but I honestly feel I finally got it right.

No new domain name this time, but I’ve introduced a refreshed logo and a new visual identity for my website and my products. This new look brings everything under one cohesive umbrella, making it instantly clear that, yes, this is a Daan.dev plugin.

Built with Tailwind CSS

Under the hood, the new site is built entirely with Tailwind CSS on top of the free Kadence theme. Utility-first, fast to iterate on, and a perfect fit for the clean, lightweight aesthetic I was going for. It also makes keeping things consistent across pages (and future updates) a breeze. If you’re a dev and haven’t tried Tailwind yet—highly recommended.

Consistent Branding across all Plugins

All of my product pages now share a more consistent, recognisable brand style. Think of it as the new visual language for all my tools—sleek, minimal, and unified. Best part? Most of it is generated automatically (because, of course it is 😎). It’s cleaner, more modern, and designed to scale—from tiny favicons to full plugin headers.

Fully Responsive, finally

The previous version of daan.dev kind of worked on mobile, if you squinted and didn’t mind zooming in and out. That’s no longer the case. Daan.dev 2.0 is built mobile-first and fully responsive across devices. Whether you’re checking docs on your phone or buying a plugin from your tablet, the experience feels fast, clean, and frustration-free.

Better Docs, Better Vibes

Daan.dev's new documentation page.
Be honest. That looks great, doesn’t it?

Documentation used to be… fine. It was there. Now, it’s actually helpful.

You can search it, filter by category, and quickly find what you’re looking for. The layout is cleaner, and each page is structured to get you in, out, and back to what you were doing as quickly as possible.

Best part is, it’s all powered by my own plugin: WP Help Scout Docs, which is receiving a big update soon, too. But, more on that later…

Buying Stuff on Daan.dev shouldn’t Suck

The checkout and the overall checkout flow on Daan.dev has also had a major glow-up.

It makes more sense, is visually streamlined, and it’s way easier to use—especially on mobile. And yes, I might be a little biased, but I think it looks great, too.

Finally, all prices are now shown incl. VAT

One last thing: starting today, all prices on Daan.dev are shown including VAT.

I used to list them excluding VAT, but apparently, that’s a no-go when you sell to businesses as well as private individuals (and in case you’re wondering: yes, I was told off). So now, what you see is what you pay—no surprises at checkout.

To illustrate, let’s take the single OMGF Pro license as an example. This was the situation before:

License: OMGF Pro (1 website)BeforeNow
Price excl. VAT€ 24,-€22,83 – € 29,- (depending on VAT rate)
Displayed Price on Product Page€ 24,-€ 29,-
Final Price for Individual from Germany (incl. 19% VAT)€ 28,56€ 29,-
Final Price for Individual from Austria (incl. 20% VAT)€ 28,80€ 29,-
Final Price for Individual from Hungary (incl. 27% VAT)€ 30,48€ 29,-
Final Price for Business from EU (VAT reverse charged)€ 24,-€ 29,-
Final Price for Individual/Business outside EU (Incl. 0% VAT)€ 24,-€ 29,-

As you can see, the new pricing scheme contains a minor price increase for some private individuals within the EU and even a decrease for other private individuals within the EU, depending on the VAT rate of the country.

Businesses in and outside the EU pay ~20% more than before, since the applicable VAT rate doesn’t change the final price. That’s not me being sneaky; it’s just how my eCommerce platform (Easy Digital Downloads) handles things.

While it might not seem ideal, I do like the clarity it provides. So, I decided to stick with it.

It’s also worth noting that these price changes don’t (and won’t) apply to anyone currently on an active subscription.

Let’s celebrate! 🎉

A fresh new website is always a reason to celebrate—so to mark the launch of Daan.dev 2.0, and because I’m turning 40 next week, I’m giving you 20% extra off everything till April 21st (my birthday)!

No codes, no fuss—just click here to start shopping and the discount is applied automatically at checkout.

FYI: this is on top off the introductory discount. So that’s ~40% off on new purchases and 20% off on renewals!

Go grab that plugin you’ve been eyeing! 🎁

What’s next!?

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be bringing that same visual style (along with other exciting updates) into all my plugin’s settings screens as well, so everything feels like it belongs together—both on the website and inside your WordPress dashboard.

Daan.dev 2.0 is built to better support and breathe what I care about most: building plugins that solve real privacy and performance problems for WordPress users.

More updates soon. For now: feel free to have a look around. And if you spot anything weird—or just want to say hi—you know where to find me.
