Why does OMGF find Google Fonts that other checkers don’t?
Table of Contents
Because OMGF looks closer. Most online Google Fonts checkers scan the source code of a single page, usually your homepage or the URL you entered.
OMGF’s Google Fonts Checker works in your own browser, while you browse your site as an administrator. It sees every Google Font your browser actually loads, on every page you visit, including fonts that are added later by JavaScript.
So if the two disagree, OMGF has most likely found Google Fonts on a page, or loaded in a way, the other checker didn’t look at.
Where can I see what OMGF found?
In the Dashboard section of Settings › OMGF (Pro) › Local Fonts. It lists the Google Fonts it found, and the pages it found them on.
Not sure how to fix them? See OMGF wasn’t able to Process all Google Fonts on my site.
Fixed it? Refresh the results
Click the page links listed on the Dashboard. OMGF then optimizes those pages again, and updates its results. Once no more Google Fonts are found, they disappear from the Dashboard, and the stoplight in the Admin Bar Menu turns green.
What about the other notices?
- Yellow notices point out known compatibility issues, e.g. an iframe from YouTube or reCAPTCHA that loads Google Fonts itself (see Can OMGF (Pro) remove Google Fonts from iframes?). Is it something you can’t change? Then click Mark as fixed next to it.
- Blue suggestions come from OMGF’s Performance Checker, e.g. fonts that could be preloaded, or fonts that aren’t used. They help you make your fonts load even faster.
